Bison Contracting was established on April 11, 1991 as a joint venture business with the Zone 6 Metis Nations of Alberta, (currently Region 6 Metis Nations). Bison has been a successful business with a outstanding 50/50 partnership and working relationship between Cobra Contracting L.P. and Nesokhomatin Ltd.
Bison’s successes include the growth and cultivation of aboriginal manpower into the forestry industry. Our employees have grown from entry level labourers to positions throughout the industry with our clients as tradesman, safety technicians, supervisors, steam operators heavy equipment operators and administration positions. Bison is proud to have been awarded the “Employer of Excellence Award” by the Merit Contractors Association.
Bison contracting supplies the Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and Environmental departments at the DMI pulp mill in Peace River Alberta with labour support personnel. We currently supply 30 people on a daily basis. During shutdown periods we supply 150 to 200 support labour and firewatch manpower.
